We are a team of Environmental, Health and Safety Attorneys and Environmental Assessment Practitioners who provide specialist EHS services to a range of companies across various industries within in Southern Africa.

We are in search of a reliable, hardworking, astute legal professional who is willing to travel on a regular basis.

We require a junior EHS attorney who will assist with, inter alia, legal compliance auditing, audit report writing, monitoring EHS legislative changes and reporting to clients on these changes. Experience in EHS legislation is preferred, but at least two years’ work experience in the legal field is required. The position can involve much travel within South Africa and occasionally Southern Africa. A current passport and a driver’s license are a must.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

Regular/Routine:

· Reporting on EHS legal changes relative to client operations

· Drafting of legal updates

· Providing EHS advisory services

· Mange an EHS legal database

· Prepare cost proposals

Periodic Responsibilities:

· Conduct EHS legal compliance audits

· Conduct pre-audit meetings

· Provide EHS specialist training

· Draft summaries of EHS legislation

· Prepare audit checklists

· Assist with tender submissions

Special other duties:

Ø Undertaking any other duties as assigned or deemed necessary.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ø Legal Degree (s)

Ø Admission as an attorney

Ø Litigation expertise preferred

Ø Regulatory Knowledge

Ø Corporate governance understanding

Ø An understanding of Environmental, Health and Safety law preferred

Ø Drafting skills

Ø Willingness to travel around South Africa

Ø Experience in writing reports

Qualification and Experience Required:

Ø Degree(s) in Law

Ø Admission as an attorney

Ø Minimum of 2 years work experience

Ø Environmental, Health & Safety Legal expertise

Ø Computer Competency

Ø Afrikaans as a second / first language

Ø Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and research skills

Ø Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Ø Excellent interpersonal, communication and public speaking skills

Ø Able to work comfortably in a fast-paced environment
